The Sea of Galilee known by four different
names in the sacred Scriptures was the center
of busy life. The Lord Jesus Christ often passed over this lake. Once He passed
from the west coast to the north-east and reached a desert place. A great
company of people followed Him. Jesus received them and taught them about the
“Kingdom of God” and healed all those that needed healing. He fed the entire
multitude miraculously by taking in His hands barely five barley loaves and two
small fishes from a lad. The food miraculously multiplied in His hands, and all
people consisting of five thousand men besides women and children did eat and
were filled: and the fragments that remained were gathered in twelve baskets.
On the next day, the people
went searching for Him to be
fed as He miraculously fed them the previous day.
But Jesus cautioned them; not to labour for the meat that perishes,
but for that meat, which
endures unto everlasting life, which the Son of Man
shall give unto you: for Him has God
the Father sealed. In these words of Jesus are wrapped
up the truth of His vicarious death on the
cross, His resurrection, ascension and His presence on the right hand of God as
the Great High Priest, that
guarantees liberation and redemption from sin
and everlasting life, which the Lord Jesus alone can provide to those who
call upon Him.
Bread is a common food which is eaten by
all, the rich
and the poor, for it sustains the body. Just as the bread sustains the body, “the bread
of life” sustains
the soul. The soul requires nourishment lest the soul will be famished and perish. Jesus
said, “I am the Bread
of Life: He that comes to Me shall
never hunger”. Jesus called Himself “the Bread of Life”, intimating that He is the inevitable need and feed of the entire
humanity for their salvation. The
Bread He shall give is His flesh,
which He offered on the cross as the Lamb of God, a Lamb without blemish and without spot. In
other words, those who trust in Jesus and cast themselves unto Him shall never
die spiritually for want of spiritual
meet for the soul. He told the people that whosoever
believes in Him as their Lord and Saviour shall have everlasting life.
The Lord Jesus was sealed
by the Father for the salvation of man, for there is none
other name save the name of JESUS given
under heaven among men, whereby we must be saved. In the
eternal counsels of God, Jesus is the only One, who has been sealed,
commissioned and designated for providing eternal
life for the lost humanity. Dear
reader, do you have the
assurance of eternal life? Do you have the
assurance that your sins are forgiven? If not, receive the Lord Jesus Christ,
the Living Bread by faith in your heart as your Lord and Saviour and confess your
sins to Him, you will be immediately
sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise and the assurance of salvation.
