END-TIME WARS SERIES – PART 5 (REVELATION 6) - GLOBAL WARS DURING THE TRIBULATION

Introduction: The World Enters the Tribulation Period

In the previous parts of this End-Time Wars Series, we examined several prophetic conflicts that lead toward the final phase of human history as described in the Holy Bible.

So far, we have explored:

1.  The War of Elam (Jeremiah 49:34–39)

2.  The Destruction of Damascus (Isaiah 17:1)

3.  The Gog–Magog Invasion (Ezekiel 38–39)

4.  The Wars Surrounding the Rise of the Antichrist (Daniel 11)

These prophetic wars gradually prepare the stage for the most dramatic period in human history: the seven-year Tribulation period.

The Lord Jesus Christ Himself warned that this time will be unlike anything the world has ever experienced.

“For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.”
— Matthew 24:21

During this period, the world will experience global wars, economic collapse, famine, disease, persecution, and divine judgments.

The book of Revelation describes these events in detail. One of the first major sections describing these end-time calamities is Revelation chapter 6, where the Lord begins opening the Seven Seals.

These seals release a series of devastating events upon the earth, including worldwide warfare on an unprecedented scale.

The Opening of the Seven Seals

The Apostle John received the book of Revelation while exiled on the island of Patmos.

He describes a powerful vision of heaven where a scroll sealed with seven seals is presented.

“And I saw in the right hand of him that sat on the throne a book written within and on the backside, sealed with seven seals.”
— Revelation 5:1

Only one person in the entire universe is worthy to open the seals.

That person is the Lord Jesus Christ.

“Behold, the Lion of the tribe of Juda, the Root of David, hath prevailed to open the book.”
— Revelation 5:5

As the Lord Jesus Christ opens the seals, a series of judgments begins to unfold upon the earth.

The First Seal: The Rise of the Antichrist

When the first seal is opened, John sees a rider on a white horse.

“And I saw, and behold a white horse: and he that sat on him had a bow; and a crown was given unto him.”
— Revelation 6:2

This rider represents the Antichrist, the final world ruler described earlier in the book of Daniel.

The verse continues:

“And he went forth conquering, and to conquer.”
— Revelation 6:2

This indicates that the Antichrist will begin consolidating his power across the world.

Interestingly, the rider carries a bow but no arrows, suggesting that his initial rise may occur through diplomacy, deception, and political maneuvering rather than immediate military force.

But this temporary peace will not last long.

The Second Seal: Global War

When the Lord Jesus Christ opens the second seal, the world quickly descends into chaos.

“And there went out another horse that was red: and power was given to him that sat thereon to take peace from the earth.”
— Revelation 6:4

The rider of the red horse represents war.

The verse continues:

“And that they should kill one another: and there was given unto him a great sword.”
— Revelation 6:4

This passage indicates widespread warfare across the entire planet.

Peace is removed from the earth.

Conflicts erupt between nations, alliances collapse, and violence spreads globally.

Unlike previous wars in human history, these conflicts appear to involve multiple regions simultaneously, suggesting a worldwide military crisis.

The Third Seal: Global Economic Collapse

War often leads to economic devastation, and Revelation confirms this pattern.

When the third seal is opened, John sees a rider on a black horse.

“And he that sat on him had a pair of balances in his hand.”
— Revelation 6:5

The balances represent scarcity and rationing of food.

A voice declares:

“A measure of wheat for a penny, and three measures of barley for a penny.”
— Revelation 6:6

In ancient terms, this means that a full day’s wages will barely buy enough food for one person.

This indicates a time of severe global famine and inflation.

War disrupts supply chains, destroys infrastructure, and collapses agricultural systems.

As a result, food becomes scarce and extremely expensive.

The Fourth Seal: Death on a Massive Scale

The fourth seal reveals one of the most devastating phases of the Tribulation.

“And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him.”
— Revelation 6:8

The verse continues with a shocking statement:

“And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth.”
— Revelation 6:8

This means that one quarter of the world's population will die during this phase of the Tribulation.

The causes include:

  • War
  • Famine
  • Disease
  • Violence

This level of destruction has never occurred in human history.

The Fifth Seal: Persecution of Believers

As the Tribulation continues, those who turn to faith in the Lord Jesus Christ during this time will face intense persecution.

John sees the souls of martyrs under the altar in heaven.

“I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God.”
— Revelation 6:9

These believers were killed because of their faith.

They cry out to God for justice.

“How long, O Lord, holy and true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood?”
— Revelation 6:10

The Tribulation will be a time when many people will be persecuted, imprisoned, and executed for believing in the Lord Jesus Christ.

The Sixth Seal: Cosmic Disturbances

When the sixth seal is opened, dramatic cosmic events shake the entire planet.

“And, lo, there was a great earthquake.”
— Revelation 6:12

The prophecy continues:

  • The sun becomes dark
  • The moon appears like blood
  • Stars fall from the sky
  • Mountains and islands are moved from their places

These events terrify humanity.

People begin to realize that divine judgment is unfolding.

“For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?”
— Revelation 6:17

The Tribulation Will Be a Time of Global Chaos

The events of Revelation 6 reveal a world descending into unprecedented disaster.

Within a short period:

  • Global wars erupt
  • Economies collapse
  • Food shortages spread
  • Massive numbers of people die
  • Religious persecution increases
  • Natural and cosmic disasters shake the earth

These judgments are only the beginning of the Tribulation.

Later chapters in Revelation describe even more severe events involving:

  • Trumpet judgments
  • Bowl judgments
  • Massive armies
  • The final battle of Armageddon

Why God Allows These Judgments

The Tribulation is not random destruction.

It is part of God’s plan to judge evil and call humanity to repentance.

The Bible teaches that God is patient and desires people to turn to Him.

“The Lord is not slack concerning his promise… but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish.”
— 2 Peter 3:9

However, when humanity continually rejects God, judgment eventually comes.

The Tribulation period will expose the consequences of a world that has rejected God’s authority.

The Hope of Deliverance

Despite the terrifying events described in Revelation, the Bible offers hope.

Those who trust in the Lord Jesus Christ are promised deliverance from the coming wrath.

The Apostle Paul writes:

“For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ.”
— 1 Thessalonians 5:9

Before the Tribulation unfolds in its full intensity, the Bible teaches that believers will be caught up to meet the Lord in the air.

“Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds.”
— 1 Thessalonians 4:17

This event is commonly called the Rapture.

The Urgent Call to Salvation

Bible prophecy is not given merely to predict future events.

It is meant to warn people and invite them to salvation.

The Gospel message is simple.

The Bible declares:

“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.”
— Romans 3:23

But God provided a solution.

“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”
— Romans 5:8

The Lord Jesus Christ died on the cross for our sins, was buried, and rose again.

Anyone who believes in Him can receive forgiveness and eternal life.

“Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved.”
— Acts 16:31

Do Not Wait Until It Is Too Late

The Tribulation period will be the most difficult time to live on earth.

Many people will suffer and die during these judgments.

Today, however, the door of salvation remains open.

The Bible urges people not to delay.

“Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.”
— 2 Corinthians 6:2

Conclusion

Revelation chapter 6 reveals the terrifying beginning of the global wars and disasters that will occur during the Tribulation period.

As the Lord Jesus Christ opens the Seven Seals:

  • War spreads across the earth
  • Economies collapse
  • Famine devastates populations
  • Death claims millions
  • Believers are persecuted
  • Cosmic disturbances shake the planet

These events remind us that the world is moving toward the fulfillment of biblical prophecy.

But in the midst of these warnings, God offers hope through the Lord Jesus Christ.

Those who trust in Him can receive forgiveness, eternal life, and deliverance from the coming wrath.
