JESUS, THE INVINCIBLE CONQUEROR

It was a Palm Sunday when the Lord Jesus Christ rode down the slopes of the Olivet and entered the city of Jerusalem triumphantly, just a few days before His crucifixion. He was well aware of what was in store for Him there, and He foretold to His disciples that He shall be delivered unto the Gentiles, and shall be mocked, and spitefully entreated, and spitted on: and they shall scourge Him, and put Him to death: and on the third day He shall rise again (Luke 18:32-33). In precise fulfillment of the prophecy of Zechariah, at His command, His disciples brought an ass with her colt (Matthew 21:1-3), put on them their clothes and set the Lord thereon, where never man sat.

His triumphal entry was not marked by any kind of show of power and pomp but of meekness and lowliness. Prophet Zechariah said: "Rejoice greatly, O Daughter of Zion! Shout, Daughter of Jerusalem! See, your King comes to you, righteous and having salvation, gentle and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt, the foal of an ass" (Zechariah 9:9).

And many spread their garments in the way: and others cut down branches off the tree and strawed them in the way” (Mark 11:8). Spreading of the garments in the way was the ancient way of recognition of one's royalty (2 Kings 9:13). The mob marched by taking palm branches and shouting "Hosanna!" (John 12:13). Palm branches were the symbol of expression of victory in the Biblical times. Those who led the procession and those who followed shouted saying “Hosanna: Blessed is He that comes in the name of the Lord: Blessed is the Kingdom of our father David, that comes in the name of the Lord: Hosanna in the Highest”, which means “save us, Lord, who lives in Heaven”.

We see that a few days later, the mob cried for His blood, saying, “Crucify Him, Crucify Him”. The Lord Jesus being delivered by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, was taken, and by wicked hands crucified and slain… (Acts 2:23-24). He was cut off from the land of the living: for the transgression of His people was He stricken, to save mankind from the jaws of eternal death. The chief priests and the Pharisees were busy securing the sepulchre as best as they could, by sealing the sepulchre and setting a guard with the help of Pilate the Roman governor. But by conquering death, the Lord victoriously rose from the grave on the third day as He had foretold. Jesus said, “No man takes My life from Me, but I lay it down of Myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again” (John 10:18).

All those who confess their sins and trust in the Lord Jesus for their salvation will share in the victory won by Christ over sin and death. Apostle Paul speaks about the victory of the believing Christians. “We shall all be changed at the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye that those saints who are dead in Christ would be raised in glory first, followed by those alive in Christ. Then shall be fulfilled the saying, Death is swallowed up in victory. O death, where is thy sting? O grave where is thy victory?” Dear reader, do you have the hope of eternal life beyond this life on the earth, if not confess your sins and believe in the Lord Jesus Christ right now and be saved.

THE CRIES BELOW AND THE THRILLS ABOVE

An eighty one year old man was piloting his private aircraft recently in Europe. All of a sudden, he suffered a major heart attack in mid air. He called his wife to the cockpit to pilot the aircraft to safety before he fell unconscious. The 80-year-old woman with little flying experience landed the aircraft safely at the airport and averted a tragedy.

Imagine the situation if his wife had not been there! What would happen if pilots disappear from aircrafts in mid-air, motor men disappear from speeding trains, drivers disappearing from speeding vehicles, the condition of patients when doctors disappear in the midst of critical surgeries!! There will be air crashes, traffic jams, accidents, destruction and deaths almost everywhere.

This is what is going to happen on the earth when the Lord Jesus Christ comes in the mid-air to snatch away the church – people who have received forgiveness of their sins – with the accompaniment of the splendour of the trumpet of God and the singing of the angelic host. A glorious sight and exhilarating experience surpassing human imagination awaits every child of God, born again Christians!

For this reason, the Lord instructed His disciples to be ready, always prepared, and be on guard for He will come at any time. This event will follow a dreadful time of suffering for the unbelieving and the unrepentant who will be left behind on the earth after the church is removed.

Jesus Christ came into the world two thousand years ago to deliver man from the bondage of sin. He offered Himself on the cross on our behalf to deliver us from God’s judgement. He became a sin offering for us and we who trust in Him receive justification through His blessed name. All those who receive Him and His message of salvation will receive eternal life, and all those who reject Christ and His gospel will receive eternal punishment in hell. For this reason He commands men everywhere to repent of their sin and trust in Jesus Christ, the Saviour.

Dear reader, do you have the assurance that you will meet the Lord in the mid year when He comes to take away His people? If not, believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and escape from the coming doom and be the recipient of everlasting blessings!

NAAMAN, THE CAPTAIN OF THE KING OF SYRIA

Naaman, the captain of the host of the king of Syria was a mighty man of valour and honourable, but he was a leper. The sacred Scriptures describe leprosy as a loathsome disease to which stigma is attached which is used an illustration of sin. Naaman heard about Elisha the man of God who could heal him of his leprosy. So, he went to Israel with his horses and chariot and stood at the door of the house of Elisha. Namaan, being a great and powerful captain expected the prophet to come out to him and heal him by display of healing power. But Elisha refused to come to him on the basis of his power and position. Instead, he offered him healing through a messenger asking him to “go and wash in Jordan seven times” and healed. Naaman felt offended and went away in anger. But persuaded by his servants, Namaan went down, and dipped seven times in Jordan and was completely healed of his leprosy. Namaan not only received just physical healing, but spiritual healing too and made solemn vow not to serve any other gods other than the only true and living God.

The way to obtain Salvation or Moksha or Eternal Life, whatever we may call, is as simple as that; that is by grace… “through faith” in the finished work of the Lord Jesus Christ on the cross. Just as Namaan was a leper, you and I are infected with the disease of sin of leprosy and need healing, which the Lord Jesus Christ alone can grant. Dear reader, put aside all your reasoning, put aside your rationalist thinking, put aside all your pride, and come and obey the voice of God - believe in the Lord Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour and be saved. God in His marvellous grace sent His only begotten Son, the Lord Jesus Christ into this world. He became sin for us, He bore our sins on the cross and He was punished for our sins. The Lord Jesus Christ died on the cross for your sins and my sins and rose again on the third day. He was once dead, but now He is alive and lives for evermore. The Lord Jesus will come again in power and glory to judge the world and to punish those who reject Him. God has assured us in His Word, that whosoever believes in His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ shall not perish in the unquenchable fire in Hell but shall have everlasting life.

However sinful you are, however wretched you are, however unclean you are, there is a readiness on the part of God our Saviour to pardon you. He paid the penalty of your sins on the cross. God does not desire you to perish in your sins. God wants to give you eternal life. If you simply believe in the Lord Jesus Christ as your Saviour as God's Word bids you, you will immediately experience the joy of “Salvation” or “everlasting life” or “Moksha”. Dear reader, have you received the forgiveness of your sins? If not so, repent your sins and receive the Lord Jesus Christ, as your Saviour and Lord and be saved!

THE WRITING ON THE WALL: DOES THIS APPLY TO YOU?

Bring in the astrologers, the Chaldeans and the Soothsayers”, screamed Belshazzar, the Chaldean king with a loud voice. As he was drinking wine with a thousand of his nobles, his wives and his concubines, he ordered for the golden vessels, which Nebuchadnezzar took away from the temple of God at Jerusalem, to be brought in; so that the king, his nobles, his wives and his concubines might drink wine from them. These were sacred vessels consecrated in the service of the Most High God in the Temple. While drinking the wine, they praised the gods of gold and silver, bronze and iron, and wood and stone. Thus, Belshazzar defied the Most High God and His Sovereignty.

It was in the same hour came forth fingers of a man’s hand and wrote over against the candlestick upon the plaster of the wall of the king's palace: and the king saw the part of the hand that wrote and was frightened beyond measure. None of the astrologers and soothsayers of Babylon could interpret the writing. But Daniel, who served and worshipped the same God whom Belshazzar defied, interpreted the writing to the king.

Daniel chided and reminded the king that the Most High God gave to Nebuchadnezzar, his father sovereignty and great glory. But he was lifted up with pride and stubbornness, so God overthrew him from his royal throne and driven away from the palace. He had to live with the wild beasts and was fed with grass like oxen and his body was wet with the dew of heaven until he acknowledged that the Most High God is Sovereign over all the kingdoms of the earth. But although Belshazzar knew all this, he rebelled against the God of heaven.

It was therefore the writing on the wall, which Daniel interpreted, “God has numbered thy kingdom and finished it. Thou art weighed in the balances and are found wanting. Thy kingdom is divided and given to the Medes and Persians." The verdict was final and his fate was sealed. That night was Belshazzar slain. He was given enough warnings, but he rebelled and perished for his sins.

All who are of the works of the Law are under a curse (Galatians 3:10). The curse of the law is the handwriting against us like the handwriting upon the plaster of the wall of Belshazzar's palace. This is the handwriting, which is against you and me that threatens you and me with eternal death! The Lord Jesus came to redeem you from the curse of the Law by His death, being made a curse for you (Galatians 3:13). If you trust in the redemptive work of the Saviour, you will be freed from the curse of the Law and can experience the joy of salvation.

Moreover, the Mosaic Law makes us debtors to God because of our sins. But this debt has been fully paid by the Lord Jesus Christ by His atoning death on the cross. He came into this world to deliver you and me from the curse of the law. So, if you trust in this finished work of Christ our Saviour and turn away from your sins, you will receive eternal life because the Lord Jesus abolished in His flesh the law of commandments contained in the ordinances (Ephesians 2:15).

Dear reader, do you have the assurance that you are freed from the handwriting that is against you? If not run to Christ, our Saviour right now and escape the jaws of eternal death!

DO NOT NEGLECT SO GREAT SALVATION

God spoke to man through His laws, ceremonies, judges, prophets and kings and so on in the past. In these last days God has spoken to man by His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. The revelation of grace came through the Lord Jesus Christ (John 1:17) and was confirmed by those who heard Him and was authenticated by signs and wonders. God punished those who disobeyed His law in all the ages as they deserved. In these circumstances, how shall we escape if we neglect so great salvation?

Salvation is so Great because the Messenger is Great: The Lord Jesus is far superior to angels as He has inherited a more excellent name than them (Hebrews 1:4). He is worshipped by the angels (Hebrews 1:4-6). Jesus is God manifested in the flesh (John 1:14; 1 Timothy 3:16). He is expressly called God (Hebrews 1:8). He is King eternal (1 Timothy 1:17). Jesus is the pre- existent Son and has taken His seat on the right hand of His Majesty on high. He created all things, the heavens and the earth. Jesus made a New Covenant with His own blood shed for many for the remission of sins (Matthew 26:28). Salvation is planned by God and is of infinite value and importance.

Salvation is so Great because the Message is Great: Jesus is the greatest of all the prophets, and the heir of all things. He has a distinctive message for every man and woman. This message is centered on the cross where the Lord Jesus Christ offered Himself as a propitiation for the sin of man. God became man, took our nature to save you and I from such great sin. The message of the cross has eternal significance for you and I and for everyone else. This makes the message most precious.

Salvation is so Great because the Price paid is Great: It cost God immense price to save man from hell fire. God spared not His own Son but delivered Him up for us all that though His death we might be saved (Romans 8:32). The price paid was not silver and gold but His own blood. “You were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold...but with the precious blood of Christ...” (1 Peter 1:18-19).

Salvation is so Great because the Deliverance is Great: Salvation delivers the repentant sinner from the bondage of sin and eternal condemnation. By accepting the offer and confessing his sins, even the worst sinner can receive forgiveness of his sins. “He that believeth on the Son has everlasting life: and he that believes not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abides on him” (John 3:36).

Salvation is so Great because the Honour it Bestows is Great: Salvation bestows on sinners, you and I infinite honours “...as many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His name” (John 1:12). Similarly, those who believe in Christ are conferred with a new status as “the sons of God” (John 1:12).

How shall you escape from the jaws of eternal death, if you neglect the means of deliverance now offered to you? Such neglect shall be visited with grave consequences. Is there anyway of escaping punishment for neglecting the salvation that is freely offered to you? No. There is no other way at all. Dear reader, confess your sins and receive the Lord Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour and experience the joy of salvation.

THE GREAT CREATOR, INFINITE BEGINNING & INFINITE ENDING..

Dear Readers, in the previous post, we saw why the Lord Jesus Christ was the greatest person to have ever walked the face of the earth. He was God in human form who came down to this sin cursed earth because he loved mankind (his very creation) and did not want them to perish in their sins. We also need to know that the Lord Jesus Chirst is the Great Creator of all things and also an eternal person, unbound by time and space. So, in this post, we are going to see the “Lord Jesus Christ” as the Great Creator, who is an eternal person, the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. Firstly, we will see the Lord Jesus Christ as the great Creator. Without trying to explain too much I would rather quote some references directly from the Holy Bible as mentioned below:-

who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature: for by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: and he is before all things, and by him all things consist:

(Pls refer Holy Bible - Isaiah Ch 40: Verse 28) - King James Version

Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding.

(Pls refer Holy Bible - Nehemiah Ch 9: Verse 6) - King James Version

¶ Thou, even thou, art Lord alone; thou hast made heaven, the heaven of heavens, with all their host, the earth, and all things that are therein, the seas, and all that is therein, and thou preservest them all; and the host of heaven worshippeth thee.

but to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him.

I have just quoted 4 references from the Holy bible above. It gives sufficient proof that the Lord Jesus Christ is the Great Creator and sustainer of all things. So, when & how did the Lord Jesus Christ (God) create all things. Contrary to popular beliefs existing in the world today, the Bible mentions the world and all that is therein was created roughly some 6000 years ago. And it took The Lord Jesus Christ (God) just 6 days to create all things. After creating all things, he rested on the 7th day.

The 1st 3 chapters of the Book of Genesis - Holy Bible - King James Version gives the below sequence of God’s creation.

1st Day - God Created the Day and the Night.

2nd Day - God Created the Heavens.

3rd Day - God created the earth with all its greenery and the seas.

4th Day - God created the Sun, moon and stars and the entire outer space.

5th Day - God created all living creatures that fly in the air and of the seas.

6th Day- God created all living creatures on land. And towards the end, on the sixth day, he created Man.

After God creates everything, the Bible says that he found that everything was good. In other words, he was pleased with his creation. One more thing to be noted here is God created all the other things just by the power of his word. He spoke them to existence. You can check the 1st chapter of the Book of Genesis - Holy Bible - King James version. Only man he created out of his own hands. Hence, Man is a unique creation of God. It is mentioned in Genesis - Ch 1: Verse 7:- And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul. Also in Genesis - Ch 2: Verse 21-22:- And the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept; and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof. And the rib, which the Lord God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man.

This is how the first man and woman was created, by God’s own hand. And the breath that we breathe today is the breath of life that is breathed by our God i.e. the Lord Jesus Christ. How much we are indebted to the creator, because he has created us with his own hands. Until here, everything goes well, because everything that God created was good and not tainted with any sin at all. That’s when Satan (the arch enemy of God and Man) enters the scene with a plan and causes Man’s eternal fall.

Man falls into sin and is driven out of God’s presence. How it all happened, we would be seeing in the next post. The first Man and Woman were named Adam and Eve, and we (mankind as a whole) being descendants of Adam and Eve are born in Sin, and our deeds also are sinful, and hence God’s sword of Judgement is hanging above our head. It is for this purpose, to restore Mankind, the Lord Jesus Christ our creator had to come into this world 2000 years ago to die in our stead, so that by believing in him we might be eternally saved. Imagine the creator “Lord Jesus Christ” coming into this world to die for his creation.

Now, we will see the eternal age of the “LORD JESUS CHRIST”. His dwelling is from eternity past to eternity future. That’s why he is called the beginning and the end, the Alpha & Omega, the eternal one, unbound by time and space. I will quote you some references from the Holy Bible, which describes this in more detail.

(Revelation Ch 1: Verse 8)

¶ I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.

(Proverbs Ch 8: Verse 23)

I was set up from everlasting, from the beginning, or ever the earth was.

(Psalms Ch 145: Verse 13)

Thy kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and thy dominion endureth throughout all generations.

(Hebrews Ch 13: Verse 8)

Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and for ever.

(Psalms Ch 90: Verse 2)

Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever thou hadst formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, thou art God.

All the above verses are clear proof that the Lord Jesus Christ is the original Creator & sustainer of all things, the everlasting one, the Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the End, while he by himself is not a created being. Being sent into this world by his Heavenly Father (GOD), with whom he coexisted in eternity past, the Lord Jesus Christ represents the 2nd person in the triune Godhead. In other words, he is the very eternal Son of God. The bible says, in John Ch 3: Verse 16 - ¶ For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son (the Lord Jesus Christ), that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. Let's believe in the Lord Jesus Christ before it is too late, because we honestly are running out of time.

The sure signs of the 7 year Tribulation is all around us. The Lord Jesus Christ is returning soon for the 2nd time, but this time with judgment. Only if we believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, can we be saved from the horrific decade ahead of us and the eternal lake of fire. There is no other way to eternal life/ Heaven other than through the Lord Jesus Christ. The Lord Jesus Christ alone has the power to forgive all our sins. So, let us Believe in him and pass on to the newness of life, to life everlasting..

In our next post, we are going to see about the Archenemy of God and Man’s soul - “Satan”..This would give us an idea of Satan and his evil intentions for mankind which is exactly contradictory to the Love, compassion and good intentions of the savior of mankind the “Lord Jesus Christ”...
