A Kenyan lawyer filed a suit in the Nairobi High Court
against the illegal trial and execution of Jesus of Nazareth citing the human
rights violation, premature judgement, and cruel torture. However the court
refused to entertain this case after which the lawyer appealed to the
International court of Justice in the Netherlands.
True, the Lord Jesus Christ was unjustly tried and
condemned to death. False witnesses rose against Him and heaped false
accusations upon Him, but none could establish any evidence against Him. After
thorough examination, Pilate, the Roman Governer declared that he found no
fault in Jesus. But in spite of the impeccable life of the Lord Jesus Christ,
the vulgar mob clamoured for His blood. Though Pilate was convinced that Jesus
was innocent, yet he condemned Him to death to please the blood thirsty mob.
The Lord Jesus Christ was subjected to humiliation and cruel torture. The same
crowd that joyfully sang Hosannas to their King (Jesus) rejected Him a little
later and led Him outside the city walls and thus He “suffered without the
gate”.
But truly it was God who was
pleased to bruise Him, torment Him and put Him to grief. The Father has not
only allowed men to bruise Him but awakened His own sword against His Son, the
Lord Jesus Christ. It was none but the Father who placed the bitter cup in the
hands of His beloved Son. Jesus was smitten of God, bruised of God and crushed
of God although the Blessed Son had done no violence nor was any deceit found
in His mouth.
Why did God the Father do
so? It was because God made His Son a sin and a curse for us. It was because
the Father has laid upon Jesus the iniquity of us all, the wickedness of us
all, the immorality of us all, the unrighteousness of us all; that is your sins
and my sins were laid upon Him and He was punished.
Prophet
Isaiah aptly says, “…He (Jesus) was wounded for our transgressions; He was
bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement of our peace was upon Him; and
with His stripes we are healed.” Dear reader, what do the wounds of the Lord
Jesus Christ mean to you? What do the bruises of the Lord Jesus mean to you?
And what do the stripes of the Lord Jesus mean to you? Here is a solemn
opportunity to save your soul from eternal hell fire by trusting in the Lord
Jesus Christ!
